The Latina New Filmmaker Grant was created for women with a distinct voice. In 2005, a group of five filmmakers were selected to travel to Los Angeles to attend mentoring sessions and panel discussions during the American Film Market. The recipients were afforded with a broad-based understanding of the business of filmmaking through the mentorship of the industry's most successful female talent.

In 2007, The Latina New Filmmaker Grant, Opening Doors/Abriendo Puertas, will be hosted by the New York chapter of Women In Film. Five recipients will be selected by a group of entertainment industry leaders to travel to East Hampton, NY, for the Hamptons International Film Festival for a full-immersion in the business of filmmaking.
